I've been blogging about issues relating to the upcoming 5th edition of the American Psychiatric Association's "Paraphilias" Subworkgroup, especially the proposed diagnosis "Paraphilic Coercive Disorder."

There are very troubling developments, and I've been blogging about these recently:
First, I argued that there is a historical and ideological connection between the pathologization of asexuality and the pathologization of the paraphilias: Asexuality and the Paraphilias

I then began to focus on PCD:
Paraphilic Coercive Disorder: Historical Background
Paraphilic Coercive Disorder: Understanding the context of a really bad idea

I'm currently trying to raise awareness of this very troubling proposal on the blogosphere.

Asexuality and the "paraphilias"

Over on my blog, I'm starting a series on Asexuality and the Paraphilias. I'm arguing against having these things in the DSM, and my focus is on the really, really scary new proposal "Coercive Paraphilic Disorder" and trying to make sure it stays out.

I'm trying to raise visibility on this matter, so reading, linking, and other people blogging about the matter would be great!

more blogging

I wrote a history of Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder and the asexual community's efforts to advocate for a more asexual-friendly version for the DSM-V.

I now have a website

Asexual Explorations the website: Promoting the academic study of asexuality.

Some important pages include:
Research on asexuality: a fairly extensive bibliography.
Ideas on how to Define Asexuality: Options, history, and various thoughts on the subject.
Creating a Research Agenda for asexuality.

my blog

I have a blog about asexuality on blogger.
